the epitome of connected, 21st century pirates
the lovely lura decided that a livejournal community and email list are not enough for we 21st century, connected pirates. thus, she's made us a very exciting ezboard community
. but we'll be having none of this mutiny business, you hear? hard to sign a round robin online.
and on another note, I dropped in on our pirate band practice the other day just for kicks, and they were quite impressive. check them out on youtube

Things for this Week
for those of you who haven't guessed, there will be no meeting this week. dorms close at 10 pm, and we meet at 10 pm, and so the combination seems unfavorable.
the next date for which we have Geen reserved is tuesday, december 4th. this should also be the last meeting of the year, which means we have two important things to address.
first, Alyse, our diligent SGA Rep, has been working really hard this semester but would really appreciate having a sort of partner SGA Rep to go to every other meeting. by splitting up the time commitment, I think everyone will have an easier time of things, and this is a great way to get involved.
second, I am going abroad next semester, which means your crew is about to be short one member. we'll be holding elections at the meeting on december 4th for the position of scrivener/cartographer/secretary, so consider if you'd like to run, and even if you wouldn't, please show up to the meeting and vote!
let Jon, Lura, Nate and I know if you're interested in either position before the 4th!
and with that, I'm out. have a great thanksgiving!

Explore GouchARRR Day
Ahoy there, you scurvy lads and lasses!
Just a reminder that tomorrow is the year's first Explore Goucher Day
and an excellent chance to
scare away all those normal kids
let the crazy pirate folk know there's a place for them here. So feel free to join your Captain and Crew and dress up
in your most piratey garb.
Hope to see you all out there looking savvy!

Missed the meeting? That's okay, we still have room! Unfortunately, we can no longer offer the discount rate on tickets, but we have a few seats left on a first-come first-serve basis. Email us, or if you're feeling like taking a risk, just show up early and hope there's room left.
WE WILL BE MEETING AT 8:30 AM ON SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 23RD AT DORSEY CENTER. In case you missed it the fist half-dozen times. You should exchange phone numbers with your driver/passengers. You should be prepared to pay for meals, and buy shiny pretty things if you so desire. It's a long day; wear comfortable shoes. Please, please try to remember: Plan to attend the 11:00 Pyrates Royale show at the Globe theatre and the 6:00 Pub Sing at the White Hart Tavern. The rest of the day in between is yours to explore and have fun. Just don't do anything stupid, and drink plenty of water. And avoid credit card debt. And wear sunscreen.
So thank you all for coming out. We're really excited about this year and you all seem pretty awesome.
Now get back to swabbing those decks.

international talk like a pirate day
ahoy, me hearties!
as ye may well know, september 19th [that's today!] is international talk like a pirate day! hope to see you all out there showing some pirate pride to the landlubbers at this hear place of learnin'. to help you out, I'm sending along a list of pirate phrases thanks to the good crew of last year's pirate club.
you can go hear to learn more about the holiday: http://www.talklikeapirate.com/
also, two notes: I may have accidentally told one or two of you that we'll be meeting next week - this is not true. our next meeting will be in two weeks, on tuesday, october 2 in Geen. we'll discuss bake saling [sailing, har har har] and other such important things.
also, thanks to your fantastic first mate, lura [whose birthday it was yesterday, the 18th, hooray!], we have a beautiful new livejournal community which can be found here: http://community.livejournal.com/goucher_pyrates/
thanks to everyone who came out to the meeting tonight! have a very piratical day!

ahoy, old recruits and new!
it's time to get ready for our first meeting of the year! we'll be meeting this tuesday, september 18th at 10 pm in the geen room [that's just across from the pearlstone cafeteria, for you freshmen], to talk about the renaissance festival and more. this meeting will be extremely important for those who want to come to faire, as we'll be collecting the money we need to preorder your tickets and assembling lists of drivers. some important things to note:
-- if you plan on going to faire on the 23rd and you don't want to stand in line for excessive periods of time and pay full price, you must bring your pre-payment of $13, or we will not be pre-ordering your ticket
-- those who pre-order will get preference for spots in cars, so if you want to be sure you have transportation, be sure you are there to pre-pay. it saves you $5 off of the individual price, anyway [all good pirates hoard their gold].
-- if you know anyone who would like to go to faire, please bring them along. that goes double for anyone who would be willing to drive [you will be reimbursed for gas if you help drive club members].
at tuesday's meeting we will also be discussing details about faire itself and the club's plans for the semester and year. please bear with us, as the orginizational aspects might take a little while. like I said, it's all extremely important. as for the rest, bring your sense of adventure and your good ideas!
see you all tuesday!
